Botox
You stress. You squint into the harsh sun. You concentrate. And over time those expressions leave their mark on your face making your look older, tired, appearing angry or worried.
But now there's BOTOX®. A simple. non-surgical procedure that can dramatically reduce even your toughest wrinkle.
So it's really up to you. You can choose to live with wrinkles or you can choose to live without them.
BOTOX® is a natural, purified protein that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles creating a smoother, rejuvenated and youthful appearance. A single treatment - a few tiny injections - relaxes the muscles between or above your brows that cause frown lines to form. BOTOX® usually lasts for up to four months, depending on the individual. You can decide to repeat the procedure as you wish. The result will wear off gradually and expression lines slowly return. To mantain the effect you will need to continue treatments. The most common areas treated are frown lines (between eyebrows) worry lines in the forehead and crows feet around the eyes. An expert botox injector also knows how to lift your eyebrows and help relieve that aging eyelid droop.
Do you suffer from excessive sweating?
Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) can be treated. BOTOX® can be used to treat excessive underarm or hand sweating. BOTOX® targets sweating at its source. Once injected by your doctor, BOTOX® enters the specific glands in the underarms and hands responsible for excessive sweating. There , it blocks the release of a chemical that triggers the perspiration. The procedure can be performed in your lunch break.
BOTOX® is a prescription medicine containing 100 units of clostridium botulinum Type A toxin complex for injection. It is used for the treatment of frown lines and excessive sweating. It should be administered only by trained medical professionals. Cautions: people with neuro-muscular transmission disorders, infection at site of injection, pregnancy and lactation. Some people have reported temporary side effects; the most common being headache, eyelid droop, pain and injection site pain. Talk to your specialist about the benefits/risks of this procedure. Botulinum toxin type A is available in two formulations in New Zealand: Dysport® and Botox®. However, their different manufacturing methods mean that they have different dose strengths. The dose required for treating an area is worked out by the physician, who will adjust for this difference in strength. The cost is generally the same and which formulation is chosen is usually dependent on the physician. Both are available at the clinic.
