Restylane and other Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to restore and support the appearance of facial skin that has begun to wrinkle, sag or is scarred. They are used to enhance or increase the shape of lips to a desired image. Numerous products are now available which either occur naturally in the body and dissolve naturally with time, which may take from a few months to more than a year, or synthetically made to be accepted by the body and aid in reducing unwanted wrinkles or lines. There are long acting ones that take two or more years to dissolve and even permanent fillers. The Vein and Skin, Doctor and Nurses have been using fillers for more that 10 years and stock all the brands recommended by NZCAM (New Zealand College of Appearance Medicine).

The dermal fillers are injected through a series of very fine needles which can be performed painlessly under local anaesthetic or under local anaesthetic cream applied an hour or so beforehand. Treatment instantly improves the appearance of lines & wrinkles that have taken years to form. To maintain the look, a regular top up is recommended. The frequency varies with individuals, and needs to be discussed with the dermal filling expert.
