Dr Henryk Poczwa (MBCHB, F.NZSCM, F.ACCS, F.ACP, Diploma in Lipoplasty) Dr Henryk Poczwa (MBCHB) graduated from Otago Medical School, New Zealand in 1977. Following a period in general practice and obstetrics (delivering babies for many years), he went on to follow his passion in venous (vein) and cosmetic (appearance) medicine in the early 1990’s.

Dr Poczwa has a passion for aesthetic beauty, which has encouraged him to study Tumescent Liposculpture under Dr Jeffery Klein, California, USA. Liposculpture is liposuction of fat, performed under local anaesthesia. Compared to traditional liposuction, performed under general anaesthetic, it is a safe, walk-in, walk-out procedure.

Dr Poczwa is also one of only a few NZ physicians who perform mini thread-lifts of the face and neck to support sagging skin.

Dr Poczwa pioneered and performed the first EVLA (Endovenous Laser Ablation) treatment of large varicose veins in New Zealand in 2002. He has successfully treated well over 1000 cases including some of the largest varicose veins seen in this hemisphere.

Numerous intensive training courses, workshops, conferences and examinations over the years have seen Dr Poczwa awarded with fellowships in:

Dr. Jarrod Newell (MBChB, FRNZCGP, DipPaed) Dr. Jarorod Newell graduated from the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2013. Jarrod has a passion for venous and skin procedures. Jarrod treats veins and skin in Wellington, Southland and from his own Vein and Skin practice in New Plymouth.

After years of dedication to Phelbology Jarrod has become Southercross affiliated to treat Varicose Veins using, laser, radiofrequency, cyanoacrylate (glue) and ultrasound guided sclerotherapy. He has obtained a Diploma of Phlebology and two certificates in venous ultrasound. Jarrod has a close working relationship with Dr Poczwa in his Wellington clinic. Jarrod also works closely with Mr Murray Cox, Taranaki’s only Vascular Surgeon to collaborate and manage complex venous cases

Jarrod is our busiest skin management doctor. He runs weekly clinics in Wellington and New Plymouth treating/removing skin cancer. Jarrod also has a passion for removing unsightly benign lesions using the Ellman Surgitron after ruling out malignant pathology.

Jarrod married Henryk and Bernadette’s daughter Tamsyn who is also a doctor working at V&S. He is proud to be part of the family business and looks forward to building upon the legacy and reputation that Henryk and Bernadette have spent the last 25 year creating.

Whilst studying towards my MBChB at the University of Auckland I have been fortunate enough to also gain knowledge and training within the field of Aesthetic Medicine. Aesthetic Medicine is a wonderful field full of advancing technology, techniques, and excellent outcomes, and working within the Vein & Skin Clinic I have had access to training from some of the best injectors in the country, as well as learning from cutting edge international cosmetic companies.

Being a Doctor, I find it extremely important to know where my product has been sourced, how it is best used and place emphasis on working with a patient to achieve realistic and beautiful results! Prior to becoming a Doctor I trained in Fine Arts at Elam University, and I like to think now that my natural flair for aesthetics and beauty is given an outlet with the medical world. I am able to utilise my rigorous medical training and aesthetic knowledge to offer optimal individualised treatment for my clients.

I love that the Vein & Skin clinic is a family business, and my mother (Bernadette Poczwa), is a constant source of inspiration for me within the field of Aesthetic Medicine. My father and my husband also work within the business as Varicose Vein Specialists and my sister is the practice manager. Together we inspire each other to gain knowledge, master techniques and offer clients the best service possible.

I have been working at the practice since its conception in 1998. With prior nursing experience in the Kew and Lorne hospital in Invercargill, my husband and I were inspired to carve out a new path in medical aesthetics. After attending a life changing conference in Bali in the early 1990’s, we took an ambitious leap into the emerging field of Appearance Medicine. Now, 22 years on and a wealth of experience, training, new techniques, emerging products and pharmaceutical companies and a fabulous range of clientele, I am enthusiastic in providing the highest level of service and expertise to all my patients.

One of our senior cosmetic nurses, Lisa Jane has had experience working in London’s highly regarded Harley Street Practice. Lisa Jane is confident with Injectables and utilising new techniques. She has a wide range of knowledge on laser safety and is very adept at performing treatments with the clinic’s top, medical grade lasers.

Ari Hall

After 8 years, Ari has returned to the Vein and Skin Clinic. She is a Registered Nurse with over 20 years’ experience in Cosmetic Appearance Medicine, using lasers and non-surgical rejuvenation techniques. She has worked in New Zealand, London and Sydney, were she worked as a Private Cosmetic Consultant. She worked as Director of Nursing for Dr S K Lim – one of Sydney’s top Cosmetic Liposculpture Surgeons and also as the personal Cosmetic Nurse for Dr B Williamson – Sydney’s leading Laser specialist and Appearance specialist.

Ari has an aesthetic eye, she is skilled in the assessment of facial symmetry, and is able to balance a person’s features using anti-wrinkle injections and hyaluronic fillers. Using the Combination Technique of Cosmetic Appearance Medicine and latest Laser Technology, she creates a natural, fresh and youthful look.

Balram Dhillon

Dr.Balram Dhillon (RNZCGP, M.B.B.S, B.S.C Diagnostic radiography) has over 16 years working in health, Balram has developed an extensive medical knowledge base. Following the professional satisfaction found in General Practice, Balram has now found his passion in Phlebology. He is currently an advanced trainee in the field of phlebology (Australasian college of Phlebology). Previously Balram worked with the general and older population, He is challenged clinically with the complexities of what his patients are experiencing and feel privileged that he can use his skills and knowledge to improve their health experience. Balram’s specialist areas of interest are Phlebology, dermatology, pain management, palliative care and minor surgeries. Balram is well known to be empathetic in his approach and thorough in his care.

Balram has worked across Wellington, Hutt, Kenepuru and Masterton hospitals gaining a wide range of clinical experience in Emergency Medicine, Orthopeadics, General Medical, General Surgery and older person rehabilitation medicine. Previously Balram completed a Degree in Diagnostic Radiology (Medical Imaging) from Australia and is well versed with Xray/Ultrasound/CT scan review.

Balram speaks multiple languages fluently including English, Hindi, Punjabi, Indonesian and Bahasa melayu.When not working, Balram enjoys keeping himself fit with regular exercise and spending precisous time with his family.

This Wellington establishment is a family affair. In 1998, Dr Henryk Poczwa, and his wife Bernadette, opened the Vein and Skin Clinic. Currently, it features a team of expert doctors, theatre nurses, friendly clerical staff and a vascular ultrasonographer. The Vein and Skin Clinic has many years of experience in the fields of varicose veins, liposuction, cosmetic procedures, dermascope and radiofrequency removal of cancerous lesions, and skin rejuvenation.

The Vein and Skin Clinic, New Plymouth is the brand-new premises, with Dr Jarrod and Dr Tamsyn Newell at the forefront. Offering gold standard varicose vein treatment, cosmetic procedures and skin rejuvenation (including mole mapping – dermatoscopy – and radiofrequency removal of cancerous legions).

Outlying clinics, offering specific treatments, are established in Invercargill, Wanaka, Arrowtown, Masterton, Greytown, the Hutt region, and the Kapiti Coast.
