Mint Mono Threads

What is a MINT Mono Thread lift?

A MINT Mono Thread is a type of minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that uses Polydioxanone (PDO) threads to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. The threads are 10mm, 30mm and 50mm, depending on the area being treated.

It’s often referred to as a “non-surgical facelift.”

How it works:

  • Fine threads: Tiny, smooth PDO threads are inserted into the dermal layer of the skin.
  • Collagen production: These threads stimulate the body to produce collagen, a protein that improves skin elasticity and firmness.
  • Skin tightening: As collagen production increases, the skin gradually becomes tighter and more youthful-looking.

Benefits:

  • Minimally invasive
  • Relatively quick procedure
  • Little to no downtime
  • Suitable for various areas of the face and body
  • Can improve skin texture and tone.

Who is the ideal candidate for a thread lift?

The ideal candidate for a thread lift is the younger patient (30 to 50 years of age) who has not had sufficient response from volumising and / or botulinum toxin treatments and are looking to help stop facial sagging.  Some of the common areas suitable for a thread lift include the following:

  • Elevate and refresh marionette lines and nasolabial grooves and lift the jowl area.
  • Revitalise

FAQ's

What areas can be treated?

The treatment is designed to elevate and realign sagging tissue. MINT Mono Thread Lifts can be used to lift the face, tighten the jaw line to combat ‘jowling’ and to lift the brow. They work especially well on the mid face and can also be used with good effect on the neck.

Common areas for younger patients include the cheeks and brows since these areas are usually the first to experience sagging. When inserted under the skin the specially designed threads fix to the tissue to gently lift and enhance the natural contours of the face.

What does the procedure consist of?

The procedure is relatively straightforward and minimally invasive. Here’s a general outline:

  1. Numbing Cream: A numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for about an hour to minimise discomfort.
  2. Thread Insertion: The practitioner inserts the fine, pre-threaded needle into the dermal layer of the skin. The needle is then removed, leaving the thread in place.
  3. Thread Placement: Multiple threads are strategically placed in a mesh-like pattern to stimulate collagen production and tighten the skin.
  4. Completion: Once the desired number of threads are in place, the procedure is complete.

Key points:

  1. The procedure is typically quick, often taking less than an hour.
  2. It’s minimally invasive, with minimal discomfort and downtime.
  3. The results are gradual, as collagen production takes time.

It’s important to note that this is a general overview, and the specific procedure may vary depending on the individual and the treatment area.

How long is the recovery time?

Recovery time for a treatment is generally quite short. Most patients can resume their normal activities within a few days.

Here’s a breakdown:

  • Immediate post-procedure: You might experience some redness, swelling, or bruising, similar to a minor injection. These usually subside within a few days.
  • Full recovery: It takes about 2 weeks for any swelling or bruising to completely disappear.
  • Optimal results: The full effects of the treatment, due to collagen production, typically become noticeable after 8-12 weeks.

Important note: It’s crucial to follow your practitioner’s aftercare instructions carefully to minimise discomfort and optimise results. This usually includes avoiding strenuous activity, excessive heat (like saunas or hot tubs), and harsh skincare products for a certain period.

When can I expect results?

You’ll start to see immediate results after the MINT Mono Thread procedure. The threads themselves will provide an instant tightening effect.

However, the most significant and long-lasting results come from collagen production, which is stimulated by the threads. This process takes time.

  • Initial improvement: You’ll notice a gradual improvement in skin tone and texture within the first few weeks.
  • Optimal results: The full effects of the treatment, including lifted and tightened skin, typically become visible after 8-12 weeks.

Remember, individual results may vary. Factors such as skin type, age, and the number of threads used can influence the timeline.
