What is Dysport?
Dysport is an effective, non-surgical anti-aging treatment, which works by relaxing facial muscles, thereby reducing and smoothing frown-lines and wrinkles. Supported by over a decade of clinical experience, Dysport has been used in New Zealand by eye specialists and neurologists to treat nervous tics and muscle spasms of the neck and face. Dysport was the first botulinum toxin Type A to be approved in New Zealand for medical use. How does Dysport work? Dysport works by blocking impulses from the nerves to the facial muscles that are related to expression lines. In basic terms, Dysport relaxes the muscles so they do not contract. After treatment, the overlying skin becomes smooth and unwrinkled, while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected. How long does a Dysport treatment last? The effects of a Dysport treatment can be felt in 2-3 days, with a peak effect period between 10 to 21 days after initial treatment. The lines and wrinkles in the treated area will soften, and this will last approximately 4 months. Unless Dysport treatment continues, your muscle activity will gradually return and your wrinkles slowly and naturally reappear. Is Dysport safe? Dysport has been used globally for over 20 years in the cosmetic industry. It is extracted from a naturally occurring toxin, which when administered in small doses is generally tolerated well by the human body. As with any medical procedure, there is always the possibility of side effects. |
