Mint thread lifts

Why wait?  Delay the ageing process with a soft lift Thread Lift.

What is a thread lift

A thread lift is a popular procedure to achieve facial refreshment and improve skin quality without having to undergo surgery and the problem of scarring.

For patients not ready for a traditional surgical facelift, threads can offer a simple solution to lifting facial skin that is beginning to droop. The aim of a thread lift is not to replace a conventional facelift but to offer a minimally invasive approach to enhance facial contouring, with a faster recovery time. There is no cutting involved, so the procedure can be carried out under local anaesthetic in the day surgery setting.

A typical treatment can take anywhere from 1 – 3 hours, and while a thread lift isn’t has rough as a facelift, patients will still experience some minimal discomfort, such as bruising and swelling. While normal activities can take place almost immediately, we recommend you take a few days off work.

Results can be seen immediately and will to improve over the following 3 – 6 months. The threads normally dissolve within 9 – 12 months, with the effect lasting a few years before another treatment needs to be considered.

Who is the ideal candidate for a thread lift?

The ideal candidate for a thread lift is the younger patient (30 to 50 years of age) who has not had sufficient response from volumising and / or botulinum toxin treatments and are looking to help stop facial sagging.  Some of the common areas suitable for a thread lift include the following:

What Is A Thread Lift

As we begin to age our tissues start to weaken and signs of the ageing process can already be visible by the time some people reach their thirties. Connective tissue in the skin can thin and collagen and elastin fibres can break down. In conjunction with sagging skin, tissue folds and wrinkles can also appear.

The ideal candidate for a SOFT LIFT- THREAD LIFT is the younger patient (30 to 50 years of age) looking for facial rejuvenation to help stop facial sagging and improve skin texture tone and quality. Rather than waiting until a traditional surgical facelift is required a SOFT LIFT –THREAD LIFT is a quick procedure offering immediate results.

A SOFT LIFT- THREADLIFT is a simple minimally invasive procedure designed to elevate and realign sagging tissue. The procedure can be completed quickly in the day surgery setting under local anaesthetic and patients can usually resume normal activities shortly after the procedure. however bruising could occur so it would be prudent to have some time off work. There is no excising (cutting) of the skin as happens in a conventional facelift and results are immediate and can last for a few years. The threads available are either fully absorbable or non-absorbable, within 9 to 12 months, and the procedure can be easily repeated in a few years if required.

A consultationwith your doctor is the first step to determine what procedure is appropriate for you. Your doctor may recommend a SOFT LIFT using Revitalizing Fully Absorbable Threads. All Physicians using these new generation absorbable revitalizing threads are well experienced in this procedure having completed various courses on the effective use of these threads.

Why Choose a Soft Lift - Thread Lift?

The aim of a Thread Lift is not to replace a conventional facelift but to offer a minimally invasive approach to enhance facial contouring, lift the sagging skin and diminish the signs of an ageing face. Inserting threads is a simple procedure having the advantage of a faster recovery time and the procedure can be done under local anaesthetic in the day surgery setting. There is no excising (cutting) of the skin as happens in a surgical facelift and patients can resume their normal activities within a short space of time.

For patients not ready for a traditional surgical facelift, threads can offer a simple solution to lifting facial skin that is beginning to droop. The absorbable threads dissolve in about nine to twelve months after the procedure still leaving the lift effect well after the threads have dissolved. Once the absorbable threads have dissolved, the tissues can age naturally and the procedure may be repeated in a few years if required.

What areas can be treated?

A thread lift is designed to elevate and realign sagging tissue. Threads can be used to lift the face, tighten the jaw line to combat ‘jowling’ and to lift the brow. They work especially well on the mid face and can also be used with good effect on the neck.

Common areas where threads are used for younger patients include the cheeks and brows since these areas are usually the first to experience sagging. When inserted under the skin the specially designed threads fix to the tissue to gently lift and enhance the natural contours of the face.

How do the threads work?

The revitalizing threads elevate and realign sagging tissue areas by using clever technology in the form of gentle small barbs or cogs that are inserted under the skin. These gentle barbs or cogs cling to the soft facial tissues just like ‘velcro’ and integrate with the facial tissue to become a supportive structure preventing or delaying facial skin ageing. The revitalizing absorbable threads are unique in that they have a double spike as compared to other threads that have only a single spike thereby allowing for better grip and lift on the tissue .The tissue when ‘caught’ in the small velcro-like barbs is then suspended and uplifted. Over time the threads stimulate the production of collagen which results in the texture and firmness of the skin improving over time so that the lift effect continues long after the threads have dissolved. Within 9 to 12 months the threads dissolve but still leave the ‘lift’ in place for several years.

The threads are placed in carefully predetermined areas of the face to support, lift and enhance the natural facial contours. Results can be seen immediately after the threads have been inserted and can continue to improve over the following three to six months. The overall lift effect can last a few years before another treatment is considered.

Am I a candidate for a revitalising thread lift?

Why wait for a full surgical facelift when a SOFT LIFT – THREAD LIFT is available now. For patients who are not ready for a traditional surgical facelift the revitalizing threads can offer a minimally invasive, short procedure that will last for a few years before another treatment is required. The procedure works best for patients who have good skin elasticity and not a lot of excess skin. The ideal candidate needs to have fairly good quality skin as this procedure is a milder lift. The most suitable candidates are men and women aged from 30 to 50 years of age who wish to look more youthful now, rather than waiting until they are older for a traditional surgical facelift.

How long is the recovery for revitalising threads?

A typical thread lift procedure takes around 60 – 180 minutes to perform. The thread lift is not as invasive as other facelift procedures however patients can experience some minimal discomfort, bruising and swelling. Ice compresses are recommended for the first 24 to 48 hours. All patients should follow antibiotic therapy for 5 to 7 days after the procedure.

Normal activities such as watching television, reading and light walking are possible within the hour after the procedure, however it is recommended to ‘take it easy’ for the first few days after the procedure. For the first week it is recommended not to engage in exercise regimes and refrain from exaggerated facial movements. Within 21 days after the procedure normal exercise activities can be resumed.

Avoid scrubbing the face, shaving, chemical peels and harsh cleansers. It is also recommended for the first 3 nights to sleep in the semi seated position supported by two or three pillows and a neck support. This will ensure not leaning on the face while sleeping.

What can I expect in the months ahead?

Results can be seen immediately after the threads have been inserted and can continue to improve over the following three to six months. This improvement is due to normal stimulation of collagen around the threads resulting in the texture and firmness of the skin improving over time. The threads normally dissolve within nine to twelve months and the overall lift effect can last a few years before another treatment is considered.
