3 reasons why you should have Varicose Vein treatment

If you suffer from varicose veins, you might be reluctant to have treatment for one reason or another. But we’re here to tell you that you need not suffer any longer!

If you suffer from varicose veins, you might be reluctant to have treatment for one reason or another.
But we’re here to tell you that you need not suffer any longer!

Varicose vein treatment is not only simple and effective, but it can help to boost your self-esteem and prevent future health issues.

Here are three reasons why we recommend varicose vein treatment.

Boost your confidence

One of the biggest issues – and for many people the biggest issue with varicose veins – is cosmetic.
Many women consider their legs to be their best feature, and to suddenly have bulbous knots in them can be damaging to their confidence.

Even if you’re not used to flaunting your legs, having the disease can still stifle your everyday choices.
Things like no longer wearing skirts or shorts on a hot summer day or being too embarrassed to go swimming can have real psychological consequences, which may even lead to more serious problems.

Many people with varicose veins have no symptoms other than how they look, so are reluctant to go to a doctor, but being happy and feeling confident in your appearance, is just as legitimate a reason as any, to have your varicose veins treated.

Things will only get worse

It must be said however, that varicose veins are not simply a cosmetic issue.

There are real and potentially dangerous health problems associated with the condition, and if left untreated, will gradually become worse.

In fact, the disease often doesn’t mean visible swollen veins. There can have hidden symptoms which you might not even recognise as varicose veins.

Painful legs can manifest themselves as an ache, heaviness, throbbing or tenderness, and is often associated with numbness or a tingling sensation.

Cramp is also a huge indicator of varicose veins. The restricted blood flow results in less oxygen and nutrients getting to the muscles, resulting in your leg cramping up, sometimes to the point where you cannot use it.

Restless Leg Syndrome is a symptom of varicose veins, characterized by unpleasant and/or painful sensations, typically occurring when you’re at rest, usually most noticeable at night in bed.

Varicose veins can also cause pressure to build up inside the vein, causing fluid to leak out into the surrounding tissue, resulting in swelling. This might be as simple as your socks leaving indents in your legs at the end of the day, or your shoes feeling tighter than usual, but it’s still a symptom that needs to be checked.

Treatment is quick and painless

For many people, undergoing any medical procedure, no matter how small, is scary.

The good news is, modern varicose vein treatment is simple, effective, and can usually be done as an outpatient.

If you do suffer with varicose veins, there are plenty of treatment options available, most of which allow you to return to work immediately with little or no side effects!

The most common treatment is Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA), which uses a laser to collapse the vein, allowing it to gradually disappear over several weeks or months.

Venaseal is an alternative to laser treatment, requiring less injections, no local anaesthesia and performed in a faster time. The procedure involves inserting a small catheter into the damaged vein, and literally gluing the walls shut from the inside.

Venaseal treatment is relatively new technology, and we are one of the very few clinics in New Zealand using the procedure.

Other treatments available include Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy (UGS) and Microsclerotherapy, all of which are relatively safe and painless.

Don’t suffer any longer with your varicose veins

Around 30% of the population have varicose veins in some form, but very few of those actively seek treatment.

Don’t be one of those people who suffer in silence.

Whether you are uncomfortable showing your legs off in public, or you are tired of the swelling, tingling and cramps the condition causes, we have a solution for you.

We are one of the leading clinics in New Zealand for vein treatments and appearance medicine.

With professional Doctors and nurses, this isn’t a beauty spa – we’re a medical clinic with years of expertise.
