What is involved with Photorejuvenation using IPL?
The procedure is generally harmless and totally non-intrusive. To start, a cold gel is applied to the area to be treated. Because we are using bursts of light, dark glasses are worn to protect the patient’s eyes.
The IPL hand piece is gently applied to the skin, and pulses of light are emitted. If any discomfort is felt, it is very mild, like the light snapping of a rubber band on the skin. If in very rare cases this discomfort is too much, an anaesthetic cream may be used beforehand, but is seldom required.
Completion of a course of treatment provides excellent long-term results, minimal adverse effects and high satisfaction.
However, in some patients swelling, excessive pigmentation and bruising can occur post treatment and can take a week to settle.
