Modern varicose vein treatment is now less invasive, faster, and more affordable than ever!
Depending on your situation, most vein treatments can be completed over 2 -3 hours, and you can return to work almost immediately with virtually no side-effects.
What are varicose veins?
Those suffering from this condition tend to feel throbbing, swelling, and aching in their legs, and because varicose veins are a progressive disease, the symptoms get worse if left untreated.
The causes of varicose veins are still not 100% known, but genetics does play a part. Statistics show that if both parents have this condition, you have a 90% chance of suffering from this too.
In the simplest terms, varicose veins are a circulatory problem. Blood is not pumped up through the legs efficiently enough, and the little amount that doesn’t go back up starts to pool in the veins, causing them to bulge.
Who is affected by varicose veins?
Hormones do play a large part in forming varicose veins, which is why many women first develop symptoms during pregnancy and tend to suffer more from the condition.
With the increase of blood in the body and additional weight, those pregnancy hormones cause the walls of the veins to relax, triggering the valves to weaken and allow blood to flow downwards.
The fact is, anyone can develop varicose veins, at any time in their life, and the condition affects around 30% of the overall population.
What are the remedies for varicose veins?
Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)
It is a simple day procedure, with patients remaining awake during the treatment and feeling no pain.
The procedure uses a laser, which converts light energy to heat energy, destroying the vein walls. This causes vein to collapse, stop working, and gradually disappear over several weeks or months.
Venaseal
The procedure involves inserting a small catheter into the damaged vein and literally gluing the vein walls shut from the inside. Once the affected vein is closed, blood is immediately re-routed through other healthy veins in the leg.
With no surgery or anaesthetic, the procedure is performed as an outpatient and with virtually no recovery time.
Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy
This transforms the vein from soft and supple, to solid and fibrous. The body then gradually absorbs this tough, new tissue over the next few weeks and months.
Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy is a simple day procedure, and all normal activities can be resumed immediately, although compression stockings may need to be worn for a week or two.
This is the year to take control
The vein treatments outlined above are quick, painless and affordable.
