Meet New Zealand’s foremost Varicose Vein Expert

Varicose Veins are not simply a cosmetic issue. They are a serious medical condition which can result in painful symptoms such as throbbing, swelling and ulcers.

Varicose veins are a type of progressive vein disease, meaning they will only get worse over time if left untreated.

The end stages of the condition can cause the skin below the affected veins to become thin, making it susceptible to bleeding and ulcers.

If you suffer from this unfortunate disease and live in New Zealand, there is some good news – this country has one of the industry’s top experts on hand to help.

Dr Henryk Poczwa

Dr Henryk Poczwa graduated from Otago Medical School in 1977 and worked as a GP in Upper Hutt during the 1980s.

He was a founding member of the College of Appearance Medicine, now called the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine (NZSCM) since its inception in the early 1990’s.

In 1998, Dr Poczwa founded the Vein and Skin Clinic in Wellington, and since then has treated thousands of patients with varicose veins.

In fact, it was Dr Poczwa who first introduced the revolutionary EVLA laser treatment of varicose veins into New Zealand in 2002, a practice which since has been adopted by numerous Phlebologists and Vascular Surgeons around the country, due to its low risk factors and high success rate.
