Laser treatment is just a way to describe the skin's response to focused light. Here at the Vein and Skin Clinic we offer several types of laser treatment to help with various conditions.
Intense Pulsed Light treatment
IPL treatment is a gentle, non-invasive procedure, used to combat a number of skin conditions, including sun-damaged skin, liver spots and birth marks.
The pulses penetrate the skin and the light is absorbed either superficially by broken capillaries and dark pigment, or deeper by larger vessels and collagen. New collagen fibres are laid down, replacing the destroyed ones, giving the skin a renewed and more youthful appearance. The pigmented spots and spider veins disappear. Sometimes more than one treatment is required.
Tattoo Removal
Although tattoos are usually permanent, we can now use lasers to help your body naturally get rid of tattoo ink by firing short pulses of intense light at the ink. This breaks it up into particles small enough to be broken down and expelled by the body. The ink then passes through your blood, liver and eventually out through urine.
The treatment isn’t as painful as everyone seems to think, with most people feeling something similar to having an elastic band snapped against them. Basically, if you can handle getting a tattoo, then you can handle having it removed. Blue / black tattoo’s treatment gives the best results. Several treatments are required.
Fraxel
Unlike other laser treatments, Fraxel treatment is able to precisely treat selected microscopic areas of skin, using pinpoint laser beams that penetrate beneath the surface. These bursts of light eliminate old, damaged skin cells, as well as some of the pigmented cells.
Fraxel treatment stimulates the body’s own natural healing process, replacing damaged skin with fresh, glowing, healthy cells, resulting in softer, brighter and smoother skin. These results continue over the next 3 – 6 months as the deeper layers of skin continue to heal and replenish.
Hair Reduction
Like most Laser treatments, hair removal isn’t particularly painful, with most patients comparing it to having a small elastic band snapped on their skin. If you’ve ever waxed, then laser hair reduction is no big deal!
We use the latest new LightSheer DUET by Lumenis which targets many hair follicles at once, allowing the treatment of large areas. The LightSheer DUET is greatly superior to and less risky than IPL (intense pulsed light) system when it comes to hair removal. Several treatments are required.
Customised laser treatment for you
Advanced technology can be expensive. While other practices may promote similar treatments with cheaper, lower powered technology there are visible differences in results so it pays to do your research. That’s why we pride ourselves on using only the very best equipment, including the fourth-generation intense pulsed light (IPL) system.
Laser treatments can usually be done in short sessions, sometimes even on a lunch break, and are usually minimally painful with minimal downtime if any. If you would like to know more about our treatments or how we can help you, please don’t hesitate to contact us today.
