The cold, dry, windy weather draws the moisture from your skin, leaving it dry, flaky and exposed. This can lead to a range of issues, but most noticeably, a breaking out of facial veins, leaving a permanent “blush”.
Treatments to warn off the ‘winter itch’
Here at the Vein and Skin Clinic, we offer the latest in laser technology to reduce and destroy spider veins and clear up blush areas.
Using the state of the art Lumenis 1One platform, which integrates two highly effective technologies, we can successfully treat a broad range of vein conditions.
This treatment can reduce the appearance of facial veins by 80%, or even clear them completely depending on the patient.
And while a few sessions may be needed for full treatment, the procedure is relatively painless and no downtime is required at all.
How the latest laser technology works
The laser heats up the vein walls, causing them to seal and close off. It may sound scary, but the procedure is very safe. The light is targeted to a very specific area (within a range of between 515 to 1200 nano metres) to target the red of the spider veins and does not affect the surrounding tissue.
The laser easily passes through the melanin barrier of the skin surface and doesn't interfere with pigment, enabling successful treatment of any skin type and at any time during the year.
